“I was an intern for two summers, and it was an amazing experience. My mentor was very supportive and the project took a very good shape after a few weeks. It helped me understand the value of my contributions to my team, and I received a full-time offer!”
“My internship with the Catalyst fund at SSIC was a great experience and the prime reason for me joining the team full-time after graduation. The team was extremely welcoming, helped me get up to speed quickly and involved me in all their activities. Since the internship duration is quite short, senior leadership worked with me to identify a project that was impactful but achievable in a few weeks and then I was given the autonomy to run with it. All team members helped guide me and provided regular feedback to set me up for success. Overall, I learned a lot and got a glimpse of what it would be like to work here full-time, which I’ve enjoyed doing so far!”
During his internship, he designed, implemented and tested cutting edge deep learning algorithms to detect arrhythmias using optical sensors with high accuracy. His work demonstrated advantages of a data-driven model in solving optical-sensor based arrhythmia monitoring task and laid foundation for further works to potentially turn any Samsung wearables into a medical grade devices. Part of his work was published as a conference paper in 2018 IEEE International Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics.
